The orchestra was founded under the name Huntington Beach Youth Orchestra (HBYO) in 2023 as part of a music program at Huntington Beach School of Music with your child's music education and future in mind.

From September 2025, HBYO has changed its name to The Songbird Orchestra upon the creation of The Songbird Foundation, an independent 501(c)(3) organization.

We believe learning to sing or play an instrument should and can be fun. It’s very important that every student has access to high quality music instruction, also given the opportunity, encouragement, and supportive environment to perform regularly.

The Songbird Foundation enriches lives in Orange County through musical education and performance—made possible by the generosity of our community.

We strive to foster an inclusive, welcoming space where people of all ages and backgrounds can come together to experience, create, and share the joy of making music in a fun and supportive environment.

Our aim, in the broadest sense, is to bring music to people and people to music.
